Tags are labels or identifiers that you can assign to contacts, deals, or other items within the ActiveCampaign platform. You can use tags to organize or segment the contacts or data based on common characteristics or behaviors.

In this article, we will delve into the step-by-step process of creating tags in ActiveCampaign. Let’s get started!

Steps to Create Tags in ActiveCampaign Account

Tags in ActiveCampaign can help users personalize communication, trigger automations, and target specific groups of contacts with tailored marketing campaigns.

Here are the steps to create a tag in ActiveCampaign:

Step 1:

Visit the ActiveCampaign website and log in to your account using your credentials.

Step 2:

  • To be able to create tags in the ActiveCampaign account, users will need to access the Tag Manager.
  • To view the Tag Manager, click on Contacts and then click on Tags available on the left menu.

Step 3:

  • On the Tags page, locate and click on the Create Tag button.
  • A pop-up will appear where you can enter the details for the new tag.
  • You can create tags in ActiveCampaign as per your specific preferences. Click Add tag to add multiple tags.

Step 4:

The pop-up window will prompt users to enter the details of the new tags including name, color, and description. Add these details to move to the next step in the process.

Step 5:

Once you are done with customizing your tags in ActiveCampaign, click on the Save button to save your new tag.

Repeat the same process to create multiple tags in ActiveCampaign accounts.

Assign Tags to Contacts

After creating the tags, you can assign them to a specific contact in your ActiveCampaign account.

You can do this by navigating to a contact’s profile, selecting the ‘Tags’ tab, and then adding the newly created tag to the contact.

Utilize Tags in Automation and Campaigns

Now that you have created your tags in ActiveCampaign, you can start using them to trigger automations, track campaigns, and perform other marketing activities.

Tags can be used as triggers, conditions, or segmentation criteria in ActiveCampaign’s automation builder and campaign creation tools.

Best Practices to Follow When Creating Tags

When assigning names to the tags, one of the best practices is to follow a consistent naming convention. Additionally, categorizing the tags in ActiveCampaign is a good idea for better management.

Review and prune your tags regularly. Track your tags, appropriately assign tags to contacts, segment tags, and check if any redundant tags need to be removed.

Now that you have successfully created a tag in ActiveCampaign, you can start using it to organize and segment your customers. This will help you to personalize the marketing efforts within your business.
